Johannes Widmer (*1971) is Head Producer of the sound and image recordings of the J. S. Bach Foundation. He is owner and President of the Board of Gallus Media AG. His interest in music began at an early age, commencing with piano lessons at the age of seven followed by the organ and choir singing, not to mention classical guitar, violin, saxophone and flute.
His career in sound engineering began as early as his schooldays in St. Gallen, throughout which he produced over 100 live radio broadcasts (church services and concerts). He graduated in 1991 with a focus on mathematics and natural sciences and an award for his services as a sound technician at various events.
Since completing his education, Johannes Widmer has been sound engineer for more than 1,000 concerts. He has led the Swiss section of the Association of German Sound Engineers since 2002, and was a member of its board from 2006 to 2008.
